Questions

How is take-home pay calculated in Canada?

Take-home pay equals gross salary minus federal income tax, provincial income tax, CPP/CPP2 contributions, and EI premiums.

What is the difference between CPP and CPP2?

Starting in 2024, Canada introduced CPP2 (second earnings ceiling). Standard CPP applies up to the YMPE ($68,500), while CPP2 taxes an additional 4% on earnings between $68,500 and $73,200.
