Questions

How do I calculate 20% VAT in the UK?

To add 20% VAT to a net price, multiply by 1.20 (e.g. £100 × 1.20 = £120). To remove 20% VAT from a gross total, divide by 1.20 (e.g. £120 / 1.20 = £100).

What are the UK VAT rates?

The UK has three main VAT rates: Standard (20%) on most goods and services, Reduced (5%) on domestic energy and child car seats, and Zero (0%) on most groceries, books, and children clothes.

What is reverse VAT?

Reverse VAT (or removing VAT) calculates the original pre-tax price from a VAT-inclusive total by dividing by 1 + rate (1.20 for 20%).
